September demat account additions fall to 2.89 million amid market selloff ↗

September saw a decline in demat account openings, falling to 2.89 million, which is an 11.5% reduction compared to the previous month. Nevertheless, over the September quarter, a record 9.04 million accounts were established. Despite experiencing its most significant monthly losses in five months, the stock market maintained investor interest, supported by robust IPO activity and a steady 135 million unique investors.
